Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Aroma is sweet with some raspberry and toffee. Color is amber with an average head. The flavor is one dimensional with some roasted malt taste but mostly raspberry, no honey to speak of. Aftertaste is somewhat like a berry flavored Crystal Light. No too interesting but easy to drink.

Mabe I had an old bottle. Dark cranbeery red color that looked like a red wine. There was no head and I clean my glasses by hand everytime. Great fruity aroma coming off it, but the flavor wasn’t there. Cheap beer with a slight red fruity flavor with bitterness that kills the taste. I was dissapointed, and won’t get again.

Bottle. Dark amber-red with a pinkish head that left a tiny bit of lacing. Slightly overcooked raspberry pie smell. Flavor of stewed raspberries, light brown sugar and cinnamon. Medium bodied. On the sweet side but okay.

All I have to say is this is the best raspberry ale on the market. The Great Divide Brewing Company makes a raspberry ale that is horrific. This is not a understatement, and that beer recieved a tremendous overall score. It is upsetting to see this score that low.

Light brown in color. Mega sweet smell: aside from honey and raspberries, we’re talking sour grapes and tart, mashed cherries. Taste is lighter than expected. Carbonation is no stranger. The raspberries play out strongly. Taste is like eating the crust of a raspberry cobbler.

Dark amber body with very little head. The aroam is overpowering with the raspberries. The taste is dry and funky with the raspberries in the background. There are hints of clove spice and some dry wood. This finishes with a disturbing dryness. I would prefer more fruit and sweetness to balance the very dry character.

sweet and fruity just as would be expected by the name. not very much depth. a fairly light beer. lacking in my opinion.
