It's a medium clear gold color, with an average white head. Big roasted corn aroma mixed with bad tobacco and hay. Fruity up front, then calm, then syrupy sweet, then finally a big coarse, musty and sour flavor. Really, the finish is absolutely awful, it feels like I'm choking on cigarette butts. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 16, 2003 Head is initially small, fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is clear medium yellow. Aroma is trace malt (grain), trace hops (flowers), with a hint of apple. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery (almost syrupy) texture, lively carbonation. This should satisfy sweet tooths, but not those who desire an aroma. Aubrey (2778), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Apr 5, 2003 Unfortunately, head died out almost before I finished pouring. Clear golden color wasn't too appealing either. Thought a microbrewer would know better than to use clear bottles... but I digress. Sweet-smelling, breakfast-cereal nose. Light and syrupy on the tongue with a moderate carbonation that attempts to complement. Grainy malts with a mild sweetness; somewhat cloying. Spiky, dryish finish (how it can still be cloying is beyond me). Some sweet and sour notes lingered. Overall, somewhat unbalanced and a wee bit boring. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 2, 2003 Bottled. Nice-looking lager, darker golden than BMC for sure, with a decent creamy head. Despite the clear bottle and some signs of age, mine wasn’t skunked; aroma was fairly fresh and grassy, what little there was of it. Flavor rather sweet, carbonation seems a bit artificial, no hops, somewhat corn-syrupy, drinkable but why bother? austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 25, 2002 Their Black Dog ale is terrific, as is much of the output of this brewery. This lager’s fairly flavorful and quite mild. No hops to be found. lou99 (1), Minnesota, USA does not count | 0.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Nov 24, 2002 I really like their ale but this lager is a real disappointment. Maybe I got a bad 6-pack but it will be a long time if I ever try it again.
