Commercial Description:
Summer White is faithful to the Belgian wheat style with its light body, cloudy color and touch of spices. A complex but refreshing ale perfect for summer drinking.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Pours a cloudy yellow. Aromas of orange and spice. Flavor has too much orange, I didn’t care for this beer at all. White beers aren’t high on my list.

I was a little disappointed in this one, but not bad overall. Nice appearance and smells. The coriander and black pepper are definetely noticable, but there is something else in there that is not agreeable. Drinkable, but definetely had better of the type.

The aroma has coriander, orange, and pepper, but it also has pickles and sour kraut. The appearance is a whitish hazy gold with a small head. The flavor has the requisite malty wheat character along with all the elements in the aroma. The palate is fairly on par for the style. The aftertaste is lightly sweet and bitter. Overall it’s a good representation of a Witbier.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with shadey, thanks Shane!) The orange peel in this "white ale" is quite obvious, but the coriander is very mild. The black pepper is a total mystery at first, but takes several sips to gradually build on the palate, finally getting to the point where it never leaves. Moderately tart, not sweet in the least, and there is only slight bitterness. Tart citrus in the nose, perhaps a hint of pepper, but not spicy to me. Light bodied, but nicely carbonated, tart, clean and refreshing on this hot winter day in San Diego. Hazy, pale yellow in color with quickly moving carbonation bubbles rising indiscriminantly from all points along the bottom of the glass. The white head rises to half an inch or so before beginning its slow fade to a wide ring. Fairly dense lacing looks like a slice of is swiss cheese was adhered to the glass. Not the most flavorful witbier on the planet, but for a widely distributed brand, it’s not bad at all and definitely better than expected.

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was hazy and yellow orange in color. Its aroma contained notes of malt wheat and fruit. Its mouth feel is initially tingly with a lingering tingly mellow palate. Its flavor contained tart mild spice notes. An above average brew.

Nice cloudy look with lots of debris. A capturing smell, very similar to other White Ales. I really enjoyed the taste....it had some weird taste I couldn’t pinpoint that appears 4 seconds after you drink it. It may be the coriander thing.

Pours hazy pale golden with a small white head and lacing. Aroma of coriander, yeast and citrus. Flavor is decent , with the spices, citrus, and light palate. Refreshing and enjoyable. I have liked all the Spanish Peaks brews I have tried so far, but I think I’ll pass on the raspberry fruit beer... $7.99 for a six pack at Broudys, Orange Park FL.

bottle-pours hazy/chunky orange with a small white head. tastes like orange tang and plastic/gum. i think this bottle is passed its prime. body is lite and fairly carbonated, but doesnt feal like a wit at all. maybe i will find a fresh bottle and re-rate.
