Commercial Description:
Summer White is faithful to the Belgian wheat style with its light body, cloudy color and touch of spices. A complex but refreshing ale perfect for summer drinking.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Bottle: Pale yellow, quite a bit of sediment about, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Pale spices on the nose, minor corriander and citrus.   Getting a bit of plastic in this, somewhat like silly putty.   Very faint, but its there.   A bit more spiced on the tongue than the nose suggests.   Pale wheat malts, corriander, and citrus peel.   The flavor is a bit more than I expected.   Doesn’t stick around for long, finishes quick, but remains fairly clean.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Better than their popular Black Dog Ale.   I could drink this all day long during the Summer.

12 oz bottle. Murky gold with a big fizzy white head. Lots of chiplike floaties. Sweet nose, lots of coriander - too much, really. Some clove, orange and wheaty notes. Weak, fizzy body. Seltzer flavors, orange and clove. Yech - awful lot like Blue Moon.

Bottle from a Pacific Liquor in North Park. It poured as a glowing yellow but had so much sediment and dead yeast floating around it scared me because what was the age of this white ale? The aroma was armed with a decent amount of coriander, orange peel and spiced yeast. The drink is well equipped with spice and more coriander and orange peel than I would of anticipated from my nose but none the less a standard American Witbier to be remembered.

Skunks smell from the beginning. Taste did not make things better. Sorry I even rated this.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Flanagan’s in Appleton, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy light golden blonde brew with a thick white head that has soem good retention and lacing. Aroma of slight skonk, some lemon zest on top of the multi-grain wheat malt. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with flavors of coriander, lemon zest, a touch of light golden grain malt and some dry herbs. Finish is slightly dry bitter with a chemical lemon aftertaste.

Many thanks to skyview for sharing. Nice cloudy yellow color. Nose: lemon - good; skunk bad. Too much time in the sun perhaps. Bitter aftertaste. Lots of lemon in the body but a chemical finish.

Bottled. Poured cloudy medium golden with a well-retained white head, but lots of nasty chunkage floating around in there. The aroma picked up bright lemon, wheat and floral notes and gave a very refreshing impression.. some caramel was beneath. The flavor mirrored the aroma well, and picked up expected spices along the way.. tart wheat and white pepper tingle the tip of the tongue with coriander, orange zest, and sweet wheat on the middle.. tart wheat and all of the above spices provide a refreshing finish. Lighter-bodied and spicy on the palate.. could’ve used a stronger malt backbone.

Bottle sampled. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of lemon, wheat, coriander, light citrus, and oranges. Sweet flavor of wheat, lemon, tart citrus, coriander, and notes of spices with a dry finish.
