Gregis (923), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jan 23, 2008 Pours a mahogany-plum color with a dense, frothy, beige head that leaves patchy, creamy lace on the glass. The nose is a blend of cocoa, nuts and faint caramel with spicy and herbal hops in support. Light-bodied with soft carbonation, the palate transitions to a fairly bitter finish that comes across as a bit metallic. Spicy and herbal hops front the flavor with a malt backing that features notes of light chocolate, nuts and caramel malts, but the hops actually dominate the flavor profile. It’s a bit disjointed, overall, but it’s certainly the best of the Spanish Peak brews that I’ve tried.
phishpond417 (1456), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2008 This beer pours a nice copper coloured body with a large tan head. A little bit of bready character, nice sweet malts with a subtle hop finish. biscuity, and a little bit of bananna too. Palidor19 (1312), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 not bad but not terrible. Its has a thin palate with some apparent malts and medium hop tastes. it works well enough. nick76 (2054), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 The aroma is like a weak porter. It has chocolate, coffee, toasted malt, and brown sugar. The appearance is brown with a tan head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter aftertaste. The palate is thin. Overall not bad. alexsdad06 (662), Ohio, USA May 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of jimbowood. Pours a clear deep copper color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is mainly caramel malts with a little spice thrown in. The flavor is more caramel malts providing moderate sweetness, light roast, some grains, and a touch of grapefruit bitterness. A bit on the thin side, but drinkable.
