tap. light golden color. no head. lighter than expected. smooth palate. foes down easy. tastes like rich malt. no overwhelming hop bitterness. Spaten Maibock finishes like an Augustiner.

On tap @ the Saloon in DC. Translucent gold with thin, filmy white head. Aroma of musty straw and copper. Light initial flavor with touch of honey rolls into big, malty center with a bitter kick on the back end. A little flat and wet, but refreshing.

On tap at the Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter in Stillwater, MN. Yellow color with faint carbonation. Thin head with minimal, watery nose. Solid malty body with hints of nuts ...or something.

On tap at the Maproom. This was not very appealing. Aside from the nose and the appearance, I would say it was odd. Nose was fruity and nice, like a bock should be, appearance was a bit hazy and golden, nice looking. Update: March 27, 2008. Much better this time. Nice clean lines at Map Room. Sweet and malty with a nice hop finish. Pretty tasty.

On tap @ Cy’s Steakhouse served in a tall mug clear yellow with a white head. The nose isn’t much malt.... some sweetness. Light clean flavors, carmel malt, some fruity hints (pear?) but nothing to set it above or beyond.

Had this on tap and it was pretty good. It was very malty and was a deep golden color. Give it a try.
