Don’t let the pale- helles color fool you. This beer has flavor and packs a punch. Available at our local german join, the Student Prince.

Draught at Charlie Mopps Nice bright, clear helles Maibock. Not amber like Einbeck’s maibock but almost as good.

On-tap - glowingly solid, thickset gold color with a firm, thin white cap of foam. Aroma is of dulled fruity malts, a slight dusty edge of bread yeast and toasted crusts with a pinch of grassy hops. Taste is thick and chewy, lots of malted sweetness with a nice toasty ring to its middle. Smooth, sweetly bready, and delightful. The sweetness of dulled fruityness and bread continues to surge for a good long while after each sip. Hops are very tiny with some floral and grass tinges just before the finish. Feel is quite thick and malt laden with stodgyness, sweetly lingering to the point of almost cloying. A very nice Maibock, quite thick in its character. I enjoyed this immensely, but the overall thickness seemed to draw out its full potential in regards to it becoming a solid sessionable brew.

It has been said that springtime is bocktime and this excellent bock is full-flavored and refreshing on a thunderous, rain-soaked Sunday afternoon in mid May. As the dark clouds gather above our heads with looming consequences I sat slouched in a barstool washing down my losses and regrets. The aromatic hops make their way up to my nose, genie-like, as the bitter, tart effervesence of the elixer quenches a deeper thirst. (Goes good with wings too!)

tap. light golden color. no head. lighter than expected. smooth palate. foes down easy. tastes like rich malt. no overwhelming hop bitterness. Spaten Maibock finishes like an Augustiner.

This was a mssive bock. One o the best I’ve ever had. Gold pour. Canary yellow and forthy lager white head. Not too sticky. Powerful nose. All sweet malts. Floraly, earthy honey tang sweetness, Much like mounatin laurel without any greeness. Cottony sweetness. Flavors are rich. Orangey tangy sweetness. thick honey maltiness. Lovely beer. Nice hop greeness. Spicy finish that is clean and melon like.
