Glass:Warsteiner lager.
Appearance:Clear caramel/red pour with a two finger tan head.
Aroma:Sweet malt, caramel and nuts with a hint of chocolate.
Flavor:Caramel and toffee dominate the mouth.
Palate:Medium/full body with solid carbonation.
Overall:A touch to sweet and syrupy for my liking.

Sep 1, 2009 Bottle at the Dayton Ale Fest. Pours a clear brown with a nice off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts with notes of caramel, cinnamon, and a bit of nuttiness. On the palate it is refreshing and smooth. The flavor is about the same as the aroma, but it brings the caramel out a little. It finishes crisp. I really enjoyed this beer, one of the better dunkles I have ever drank.

Sep 1, 2009 Sampled at an outdoor beer tasting sponsored by Doti Liquors, Elmhurst, IL. Poured from a 12oz. bottle to my fest/wine glass, a clear, brown hue with ruby tones showing through. The head was some off white foam and decent cling to the lacing. The aroma was light toastiness, distinctive Munich malt, caramel and some sweetness. Same notes were present in the flavor, with a little nuttiness present. Mellow notes throughout with nothing over the top, but nicely drinkable.

Aug 21, 2009 Draft. Pours a clear, dark reddish amber color with a tan head. Aroma of caramel and roasted malt. Flavor was slightly subdued, but had similar roasted malt and caramel characteristics.

Aug 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours a translucent reddish amber with a light tan head. Aroma of caramel and sweet dessert breads. Light bodied with average carbonation. Flavor has that distinct German dark lager flavor, but its too sweet and lacks bitterness (even for the style). Just way too sweet for me. Meh

Aug 12, 2009 12oz bottle served in a Bell’s dimpled mug. Clear mahogany pour with a one-finger thick head of slowly fading tan foam. The aroma had caramel, toasted bread, nuts, and some mildy spicy, earthy noble hops. The flavor included toast, caramel, and roasted nuts. Finished clean with a quick, crisp hop bite. Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Drinkable, but definately not very exciting.

Aug 11, 2009 Draft sample at Cincy Beerfest 2009. Pours a dark red with no head. Aroma of wheat, roast, fruit. Flavor of wheat, caramel, and malt. Medium body, very bitter. This one did very little for me and left me greatly disappointed- skunky, dry, and a somewhat unpleasant drinking experience. It’s been way overrated on here.
