This drinkable but underwhelming brew is better than regular Spaten, but nonetheless boring. Primariliy malty. Ratebeer.com needs to get its web site straight. I rated this and another beer the other night and it didn’t add my ratings. Annoying.

2009 Bottle. Sweet, barleyesque aroma with a reddish brown hue and no head. Tastes of sweet, darkly roasted malts. Honey and molasses perhaps? Light on the palate, though a bit oily. An enjoyable beverage.

12oz bottle from BeerGestapo, served in an Ayinger stem glass. Thanks Mike. Pours a clear brown-amber color topped by a small disappearing head. The nose is slightly skunked. Thank you Spaten for packaging your beers in green glass. Also light amounts of bready malts and toffee. Flavor is nice and balanced. Some notes of caramel, bread, & noble hops. Burps taste skunked however. Medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Very easy to drink, simple and enjoyable.

Draft Pours a reddish amber with an off white head. The head deminishes quickly. Aroma is of caramel, earthy, and grains. Has a decent carbonation. The flavor was lacking at best. A little sweet but not really a bold sweetness. Has a watery texture. A light body. The finish was better than macro swill but left something to be desired.

Green bottle poured a clear brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of carmel, toasted malt, light earthiness and a hint of molasses. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, toasted malt and dark bread with a crisp malty finish.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice amber color w/ a light off-white head. Aroma of yeast and bread on pour. Combination of bread and roasted malts on taste. Finishes a little harsh. Light to medium bodied.
