I don’t know why but I have a soft spot for the wonderful grainy maltiness and delicious noble hops in this beer. I can drink this to oblivion. If I could only have one beer this might be it. llcooldave (328), San Antonio, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2009 12oz bottle at the Brickskeller. Amber-brown color, filtered and transparent. Minimal quick-fading head. Sweet brown sugar malt taste, quite smooth and well done. Not cloying, pungent, and/or thick like some Dunkels, this is quite well balanced. Caramel and toffee notes. Not much hop presence at all, in accord with the style. Pretty good. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a green 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. There was no noticeable freshness date on the bottle.
Appearance: It has a deep reddish amber body that is very dark but also has good clarity. On top there is a thin light tan head that fades quickly down to a ring of lacy foam.
Smell: The aroma has just a simple sweet caramel malty presence with no hint of hops at all.
Taste/Mouth: The flavor has a candy like sweetness with caramel, light roasted notes and very light floral hops in the background. The palate has a sweet malty finish, soft carbonation and a modest medium body that is very drinkable.
Notes: It reminds me of a lighter bodied, average tasting bock beer. It’s simple and sweet but not cloying, so I could see myself drinking a few more of these.
