| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Poured clear and copper with a short white head. The aroma was a distinctive malt, toffee and faint chocolate. The flavor was nutty and spicy, a bit of chocolate and some astringency that was kind of distracting. Thin body, well carbonated. Not my favorite from them. FlssmrBrewAlum (1152), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Draft at the Bavarian Lodge (Lisle, IL). Pours a very dark reddish copper, creamy offwhite head that stays decent sized, laces very well. Pretty much transparent despite being dark. Aromas are a nice dark maltiness, caramel and toffee, toast, and subtle sweet malts. Initial is a good base of sweet caramel, toffee, biscuits, and bread. A nice sweet malt base, a faint bitterness on the finish. Quite smooth and drinkable, mellow sweetness, toast is secondary, a touch nutty and faint vanilla. This is nice, refreshing, and highly drinkable with a decent amount of flavor/character for a darker lager. Not bad at all. Sledutah (74), Utah, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2009 12oz bottle:
Appearance: Pours a dark reddish brown with very little head (tan) that disappears fast and no lace left in the glass.
Aroma: Grainy malt with some caramel
Taste: Roasted malt with some grain, caramel and sweetness. The finish is crisp and clean with no aftertaste.
It would be easy to drink a few of these. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA

I don’t know why but I have a soft spot for the wonderful grainy maltiness and delicious noble hops in this beer. I can drink this to oblivion. If I could only have one beer this might be it. keidjxz (71), Irvine, California, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 6, 2009 [Bottle] Pours a dark amber color with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma of roasted grains and caramel. Sweet taste is primarily of malts and some toffee. Overall quite sweet, without a crisp or dry hop finish. Average mouthfeel and carbonation. Not a whole lot going on here. savnac (432), Palmer, Alaska, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 24, 2009 On tap @ Humpy’s Anchorage, AK. Clear amber with a thick light tan head. Aroma is of bread, sweet dark malt and very light noble hops. Flavor is liquid bread, sweet and malty with just a faint touch of bitterness. Medium body with a mild carbonation and a thick mouth feel. This is a nice Dunkel but was a little let down, just a bit too sweet and the hops were barely noticeable.
