Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Hops & Hop extract.
Sold as Münchner Hell in Germany, München in the UK and Premium in North America.
This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

Had on tap just outside of Munich. Had a nice light appearance with a crisp flavor with a hint of hops. Nice beer on a warm day spent walking all over Deutchland.

Straw coloured with a decent head. Aroma sweeter than I expected (but then I was drinking it under the impression of it being a pils) and a bit grainy or even dusty. Nice mouthfeel but flavour is more sweet than grassy and hops could be stronger. Again, I thought I was tasting a pils. It’s a decent beer either way but more impressive to me as a helles than a pils.

Draft. I really enjoyed it - a nice, traditional German lager. It has the smoothness there, wonderful hop and grain crispness, with slight floral notes to keep things interesting. Probably my favorite macro-brewed helles.

Draft. Very solid traditional helles. It has a nice balance of sweet maltiness, balanced by just a touch of hoppy bite. Very well balanced, refreshing when cold, substantial when a bit warmer. Very pleased.

I like this beer a lot! it delivers what it should for the style. Even and well-rounded malt body. Hop flavor is even and compliments malt perfectly. Some citrus and banana notes in the afteraste...overall a great beer!

On tap. Helles??? Tasted like a big bunch of nothing. Aroma had some vague sweet malt, in the mouth some grassy hops as well, but very, very bland. Finished like a cheap pale lager, nothing that made me particularly want to finish the glass. Blah. I don’t usually rate beers around 2.0, so I’m not sure if I’m being generous or overly critical, but blah about sums it up.

On draft at the Saucer. Has a light golden body with faint head. Aroma is of sweet Pils malt with some herbal hop notes. Taste is similar, but a bit sweet. Decent German lager.

On tap. Pours a light golden with good carbonation, small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, some light fruits. Flavor of wheat, skunk, sweet malt. I didn’t really like this and it had a funny taste that was sort of skunky. Wouldn’t get again.
