Mild honey sweetness with dry medium bitter finish. Medium-light body, medium carbo. Something in the flavor throws me. Pretty good, just, I dunno, I don’t like it as much as some of the other sweeter lagers, I guess. johndoughty (2159), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Shows what a pale lager can be when brewed with all-malt. Low hopping brings forward the malt in this clean, refreshing example of a straightforward German lager. Give me this any day vs the typical American lager. crowderm (282), Recklinghausen, Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Pours a very nice clear gold with thick, creamy white head that leaves some very attractive lacing on the glass. The aroma is mostly sweet, malty hay and floral/herbal hops. The flavor is pretty similar with the herbal hops coming through in a subtle, but very nice way. There is a hint of metal in there that detracts a bit. The mouthfeel is is pretty light, with a clean dry finish. Pretty good lager overall. hillfiiiiire (285), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with a large white head. The aroma is rather malty sweet without much hop character. The flavor is nice and clean with plenty of malt. The finish is a bit thin, but with a solid dry finish. ansermadide (512), Kyle, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Updated: Apr 27, 2008Although I am an ale man, lagers serve their purpose in my life. Like when I want to drink a beer, but my body tells me I should be drinking water. Although it’s not fantastic, Spaten holds a place in my heart and I usually go for their lager. Not all beers are meant to be a full-on attack on your taste buds, but for the style should still be worthy. Pours into my Spaten lager glass light with a healthy head that doesn’t hang around too long. Well carbonated, light color. Smells like any other decent lager, has a semi-sweet taste at first sip. Well balanced for such a light beer. Easy to take out the majority of a six-pack after a long day at work. BEERGUY007 (206), Scotia, New York, USA
