It looked great, but I got that skunky nose and odd hop taste. Shame, I bet this is great at the source. chadcs (76), Westminster, South Carolina, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 18, 2007 I love the Spaten brews since living in munich, but I must admit out of all the german beers that travel trans-atlantic this one takes a large hit in shipping. Tasted nothing like it does from the brewpubs in munich. Overall was still "good" but was depressed that it didn’t have the true flavor that it has from munich. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Nov 18, 2007 I had sampled many Spaten brews when I was in Munich last month and enjoyed them all. I ordered this one last night with dinner (back in the USA) and it was horrible. This didn’t survive the trans-Atlantic trip very well. At all.
Pours a nice crisp golden color with a foamy white head. Aroma is of a very skunked beer. The taste was the same. I didn’t even finish it. It was a shame... MaliMisho (215), East Meadow, New York, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2007 This beer wasn’t that bad, a light hop taste, well balanced, but nothing to brag about. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Draught at Chef Paul’s Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, IL. As such, likely presented at close to it’s best outside of the brewery itself. Clean, basic lager aroma. Crystal clear, pale gold color with a frothy white head. Excellent lace. Dry, basic lager flavor. No flaws. A little watery. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. whiterabbit81 (244), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 14, 2007 From mini keg. Mild golden color with somewhat fluffy white head. Aroma malty, with a bit of bitter hop. Flavor also mildly malty, with a touch of euro hops and a decently bitter aftertaste. Good, clean-tasting beer. DaveB (73), Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 11, 2007 On tap at some Italian joint in Westfield. I had heard of it before so I didn’t make the mistake of calling it by the same name as the break and muffler shop. Anyway, light amber color, head disapated quickly. I know that because I watched it. Had a strong odor of , of , of well beer, I guess. Tasted like beer too. A German beer oddly enough. Reminded me of Ringness(sp). Liked it so much I ordered three more. MontereyJimbo (79), Monterey, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 10, 2007 If you’ve ever had Spaten Pils, this is a "kindler, gentler" version of it. It is definitely not a "light" beer though. It’s got a milder balance and not so bitter hops content. As German beers go, this is pretty tame stuff.
