Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness. Also known as Spaten Münchner Hell and is sold under that name in Germany PLundsgaard (210), Tranbjerg J, Denmark

NOt too much taste at all, but quite drinkable at the end of the day... mostly thanks to the fact that the taste is small and mostly nonoffensive with the exception of the rancid skunkiness. Pour was a light gold with no head. Aroma of skunk and malt. Taste was thick and lightly carbonated. Tasted like a less carnonated pilsener with no hoppiness and no aftertaste...which leaves not much. Blah..hard to believe this is the brewer of the Optimator Gregis (1134), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Pours a crystal clear gold with with lots of rising bubbles and one finger of frothy head that diminishes fairly quickly. The nose is fairly muted with light, crisp, slightly perfumed pale malt and lightly grassy hops. Light-bodied with lively, fine carbonation and a crisp, clean and just lightly bitter finish. Light, sweet, malt front with a crisp, clean finish. The hops are there at the end but play a minor role in the flavor profile. For a lager, it’s actually pretty nice. I’m beginning to see that my preference among lagers leans toward the Helles, Marzen, Vienna side of things vs. the junk that I consumed in mass quantities back in college. Light hop with some corn and citrus like aroma. Hop is light and in background. Appearance: straw yellow with white head, fair retention. Flavor: Moderate malt accentuated beer that is not overly sweet, but rather focuses on malt flavor with underlying hop bitterness in a supporting role. Finishes dry with mellow malt with lingering light bitterness. Overall impression: Malty, but fully attenuated. Not as crisp and light as American Lagers, but is one step up in maltiness without the "heaviness" of Pilsners and Ales. I think that because hops take a back seat to the malt, that it makes it boring and too malty. However, I think everyone should try this beer at least once due to it’s historical heritage. Cheers.
