Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Hops & Hop extract.
Sold as Münchner Hell in Germany, München in the UK and Premium in North America.
This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

Yes, more like a standard Pilsener than a Helles, but still a well balanced profile between the hops and malt. It is what it intends to be-easily quaffable and light. I got a bunch on sale so I can’t argue, but I wouldn’t pay for it otherwise unless I were in Germany. A good Pils.

Perhaps I’m splitting hairs here, but this seems more like a standard pilsner to me. Not bad, nice hayiness and hops, but it doesn’t hold a candle to GLBC Dortmunder Gold.

Tap... pale golden color wth a white head. Finished nicely, with a clean malt flavor. Average lager, good for quantity but I wouldn’t waste money on it if I want a beer to enjoy. I prefer the Hacker-Pschorr Edelhell-- thats me though

Bottle. Pale yellow color with a fine white head. Aroma of yeast and hops. Medium carbonated. Dry bitter and short finish.

Aroma of yeast, some flowers as well. Pale colour, no foam. Unfortunately this reminds me of the typical pisslager. Nothing special about this one.

12 oz bottle. Purchased this one for comparison along with a 12 pack of Spaten Oktoberfest. Just getting in the mood for October.. Had it straight from the bottle. Decent lager aroma, familiar Dortmunder flavor. Smooth and pleasant, with plenty of hop character and no off flavors or aromas. Not bad.

Small head, golden clear body. Nice hop aroma, suttle sweetness balancing it out. Very light on flavor but good. Nothing off except for very little carbonation which doesn’t seem right.
