Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Hops & Hop extract.
Sold as Münchner Hell in Germany, München in the UK and Premium in North America.
This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

Bottle at home (040123). Pale golden with a small white head. Aroma and flavor light to moderate malty/sweet and hoppy/bitter. Light body, watery, lively carbonated.

I didn’t find this beer as pleasurable as the fellows before me. It poured a darker amber color. Sweet hops were mildly present in the aroma along with a little foot. I got it in a 5L keg, it did the trick for the night, but not something I want to drink again.

Skunky aroma. Body is somewhat watery, and finish is sweet. not bad, but not thrilling either. A very small step above drinking a heineken.

12oz bottle pours pale golden with a small creamy white head that hangs on about 1/8th of an inch and laces a little on the way down the glass. Aroma is of light hops and light grains and a bit of skunk as well. Flavor is much better than the aroma. Sweet bready notes, some yeast and light german hops. Palate is light and airy with just enough carbonation to make this feel decent in the mouth.. It definitely isn’t up there with the Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold but it is fair to drink and not bad. Close to average..

5L minikeg: Pours a slightly hazy deeper yellow color with an uneven, soap bubbly, white head. Aroma is strongly fruity sweet. Flavor is of butterscotch candy and grape juice. Some alcohol, but the palate is mostly watery, very light body. Not a bad lagerbeer. The sweetness gets to be a little tiresome though.

From 5-Liter mini-keg. Fruity, sweet malty aroma. Slightly cloudy, pale golden. Taste is light, slight hint of candy or butterscotch, light-medium bodied.

Pale straw color with a decent white head that slowly fades away. Aroma of sweet malt, a bit of hops and slightly skunked. Very nice malty flavor with a quick hop finish. Full bodied. Enjoyable lager beer.

Light in aroma and flavor. When comparing this to Great lakes dortmunder, it was evident where this beer stands. Not very impressive. maybe my batch was past it’s prime.
