Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Hops & Hop extract.
Sold as Münchner Hell in Germany, München in the UK and Premium in North America.
This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

Pours clear gold with a disappearing white head. Skunky hop aroma and a slight bitter skunk taste. This beer is pretty average for a green bottle.

A 12oz bottle. The beer pours a light gold with a thin head. The smell faint hops. The taste is light hops and a hint of malt. It is easy to drink.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin head of poor duration, over a clear pale yellow body....nose is mild malts, mild hoops, smells like a light type of beer....taste initially a mild maltyness, then mild hopping finishing with clean dry malt...mouthfeel is light. Meets its type very well. The style is very light to my palate and my rating reflects that.

From a 12oz Bottle. Slightly hazy, golden yellow color with a tall layer of fizzy white foam. A slightly skunky hop aroma wafts from the glass immediately after pouring, but fades after a few seconds, unveiling a soft malty nose of bready pils malt. Rich and clean with a soft doughy sweetness. Hops are restrained, but lend an herbal and mildly spicy character. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft, doughy texture. Clean pils malt flavor that’s pleasantly doughy and bready. The soft mouthfeel enhances the maltiness of the beer nicely and the subtlety of the pils malt flavor stands out with restrained aggression. A mild herbal hop bitterness rounds out the finish. A nice, light, and clean session beer with a pleasing pils malt flavor.

[bottle] Sort of pungent grassy aroma, foretelling of crisp malt, with creamy notes. Clear, coppery gold with a lasting white cover. that laces the glass walls. Clean base malt flavour with a tiny bit of bittering, which is only stabilizing. Nice, quaffable, refreshing Helles. Light body, medium carbonation, crisp and clean finish. Just not really exciting.

I have to go against the ratings here, I had this on tap in Tokyo recently and I was in heaven. Gold with rocky white head, the carbonation was so soft and busy, beautiful to look at. Nose was spicy with grains and sweet yeasts. The taste was mostly sweet with hints of lemon and citrus. The palate was incredibly soft and so effervescent - it was like a foamy cream. I loved this beer, loved it.

Pours and attractive gold with a small white head. Typical for any lager. Aroma/flavour of mild hops and malts with some hints of spice. Also tiny notes of corn and wheat. A tad sweet also. Great lager. I wish they supplied it where I live......like so many other beers.
