Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Hops & Hop extract.
Sold as Münchner Hell in Germany, München in the UK and Premium in North America.
This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

What can I say..... I generally like Spaten enough not to even mind their InBev ownership; generally I turn the other way and enjoy their quality above all. To this however there was very little turning, this was particularly not so great. Pours a very clear light golden color, as you can see from the picture. The aromas were of apple bread dough yeast and malty sweetness. The flavor was bready with a sharp hoppiness and a pronounced character of corn, which I am absolutely certain, had nothing to do with adjunct grain. It is unfortunate to find a corn character when you are sure that there is no corn in the beer. Otherwise the flavor is largely dry and can be enjoyable in small quantities, at the right occasion.

A well-crafted example of a not too interesting style in my opinion. Golden color with a white head. Aroma is sweet malt, German hops, and some grain. Flavor is pale malt with mild hops, a little grainy but not bad. Medium mouthfeel, crisp on the finish.

A- Pours a very clear, light yellow hue; minimal head with no lacing S- Suble Bavarian malts and hops; slight citrus and grain/corn tones T- Refreshing and crisp maltiness followed by subtle bitterness; I get a strong corn flavor in the finish M- Very thin and watery, light carbonation D- Smooth, refreshing lager; alcohol taste is very unassuming; this would be a nice beer to drink on a summer day; I get the feeling that I could have quite a few servings without being overwhelmed

Bottle. Pours a brilliant golden yellow with a nice white head. The is THE color of beer. Spaten is what Budweiser wishes it could be but never will. I must have gotten a hold of a perfect six. No skunk, crisp, refershing, great balance, nice aftertaste. When you talk about drinkabliity, Spaten is the beer your should be talking about.

12 oz bottle. Light spicy hop aroma with some Munich style maltiness. Wow...this botttle is not skunked at all. Clear light straw golden with big bubbles. Light maltiness with some a very light spicy hop flavor. Finish is clean and dry.

12 oz. bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a foamy, white head. Smell: Lightly skunky nose with notes of spicy, floral hops, pale malts, and the tiniest bit of apple fruitiness. Taste: Light pale malts with a pinch of sugary sweetness followed by flowery, spicy hops with a mild, restrained bitterness. Very minor hint of Golden Delicious apples. Finishes dry and crisp. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Drinkability: Aside from the souring skunkiness, it’s a fine, enjoyable lager.

Pale yellow with a nice soft fuzz of white cover. Grainy tannic malt, peppery spices. Taste is fair, pepper and malt, bitter grain husks.
