Red. Beery aroma. Bitter dirty initial taste taht assaults the taste buds in a bad way. Tastes like aftertaste but doesn’t have an aftertaste.

Clear dark golden color, large foamy white head and small bubbles slowing rising to the top of a good looking beer. Deep malty aroma compliments the appearance, the slightest bit of hops sneaks into the aroma at the end. A real medium level palate not very carbonated though. The flavor is like the scent, heavily malted with a sprinkling of hops. It might not be the most exciting style of beer but like the fellas in the beer tents in Munich, you can drink alot of it. Leading this beer to the finest represantation of an octoberfest - and why not, its made exactly where the festival started.

dark amber on the pour with no head and smells mostly of malts with a tiny bit of hops in the background. very smooth malt aftertaste but not much too brag about.

On tap and served in a tall Spaten glass. This beer poured a dark amber with a lasting tan head. Some light lacing was left around the glass. The aroma was made up of toasted caramel malt, bready yeast esthers, and also some light noble hops. The flavor stayed true to the aroma. Your typical marzen. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a healthy amount of carbonation. Just your run of the mill Oktoberfest.

21 OZ. BOTTLE. Pours out a very nice old gold color. Nice malt aroma with medium head. I am drinking this beer right now and it is leaving a little lacing behind. Very good flavor. Nicly malted with the right amount of hops, but you can taste the alcohol. As far buying german Oktoberfest beers in America this is probably one of the best.

Bottle. I picked this up for $1.29 at a local World Market here because I’d heard of the Optimator and wanted to see what Spaten was all about. I’m not disappointed at all. This is a very good Oktoberfest. I like the Paulaner better but considering its my favorite beer thus far, I’m pleased with the purchase. Beautiful golden-amber color typical of the style with a wonderful malty aroma. Decent lacing but a wonderful thick head although it didn’t last that long. I didn’t mind as I was ready to indulge. Smooth, malty flavor that makes me wish I was sitting in a beer tent with a Stein of this stuff. Overall, a very good beer. Highly recommended.

pours copper gold with a one finger fluffy off white head. aroma is toasted caramel pilsener malt with a little grassy hops. has a light o medium body with descent lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but a bit stronger. has a little dry hop aftertaste and is a little different of an Oktoberfest. not bad i guess. i would gladly take a hacker pschorr or capital over this any day though.

Pours a nice see-through amber. Nice aroma of malts and a bit of hops. Pretty foamy head. Nice lacing all the way to the bottom of the glass. Toasted malt flavor comes through. I’m not a big fan of the Marzen style, but didn’t discover this until I had bought a case of bottles from Costco. Good original German beer. I have more respect for this style after trying the Goose Island Harvest Ale and Three Floyd’s Munsterfest.
