We had a few six packs left over from last years Oktoberfest and so were marked down to $3.99 a six pack. Thats an awesome price for anything from Spaten! Also, due to the care that was taken it retained it’s freshness and I definitely couldn’t notice any signs of spoiling. It pours with a big, rocky head. The color is deep amber with an appealing hue. Smell of roasted malt with a sticky caramel, molasses sweetness. The taste is smooth, toasty and has an amber ale bittersweetness. Great Oktoberfest, absolutely definitive of the style. After stocking up on six packs of this and drinking it for a couple weeks, it has definitely found a soft spot in my heart... and stomach. ilikestuff (222), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

Aroma is slightly grainy and sweet. Flavor is crisp and smooth with a surprising maltiness. Oakes (8108), gone rambling, Cambodia
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Had this in bottle at a German restaurant in Victoria. Didn’t realize I hadn’t given it the RB treatment. Very good beer. Bright dark amber colour is bang-on. The aroma and flavour are clean and well-defined earthiness and caramel. There’s a touch of toastiness as well. Full body. The finish is excellent sweet caramel and I love the way the earthy hops sneak in there as well. The bit in the commercial description about "rich textured palate and underlying sweetness" is very apt. This is really, really good marzen. Now the question - if I can find it at a restaurant in Victoria, why not any bottle shop in BC? chadcs (76), Westminster, South Carolina, USA

Very hard to acquire in my region since it only around from October till about March. This is a good consistent beer always a comfort to come home to one of these. rodneykm (109), Westminster, South Carolina, USA

Still love it but in comparrison to Sams its a bit too sweet. Can only have one of these a day (just too sweet tasting to me). rjizzle (6), California, USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 1/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2007 i dont care much for darfk beer but this one hit the spot. very strong full flavor Wretchedhalo (11), USA

Label was crooked on every one of the 12 in the box and didnt have the blue foil like in the pic. Skunky, tasty and good and cheap. Not bad with a good sweetness and malt/hop flavor downender (2624), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
