Commercial Description:
This is the German version of the beer, described by Jackson in the 2000 Pocket Beer Book as "much paler (than Oktoberfest-Marzen in the US), golden, albeit still with a creamy aroma and pleasant malt accent."

Malt hop aroma somewhat light biscuty taste, with just a touch of sweetness and noble hop finish ,serviceable Oktoberfest brew, which no doubt tastes better in Munich

Pours a clear brownish-copper with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet, mildty malty and a bit grassy. Taste is grassy then some caramel malt,a bit fruity fruity with a floral finish. Nice balance but somewhat thin for a Oktoberfest.

Lighter golden color, beatiful white head. Malt and hops in aroma. Malt, sweet and little bitter in the palate. A very good drinkabillity.

1L draft at Spaten’s 2007 Oktoberfest tent in Munich. Lighter golden color and less intense carbonation than other breweries’ Helles offerings that I had at Oktoberfest. Nonetheless, still a wonderful beer!! Bit lighter body and lighter malt body than I had expected – the same would be true of the hop complexity that I had expected.

Typical average German Lager with a decent touch of sweet malts and some balancing hops. Skunky-sweet aroma, rather tame. Typical bronze color, didn’t get a very large head but what came about did stick around. Filling on the palate and crisp. Flavor is tame and different from most other Oktoberfests. Decent example but not grand by any means.

Maß at Schottenhamel on 9-29-07. I drank many many of these. Slight orange and fruity flavours. Some bitterness. Enjoyable.
