Commercial Description:
This is the German version of the beer, described by Jackson in the 2000 Pocket Beer Book as "much paler (than Oktoberfest-Marzen in the US), golden, albeit still with a creamy aroma and pleasant malt accent."

Maß at Hippodrom on 9-28-07. Day two, we started at 10am... a little early to rate a beer, but a maß is enough to get a good idea of a beer even this early. Same look, same aroma as Hofbrau. Tastes nearly identicle as well. Body isnt too full, but nice sweet maltiness, medium bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Lightly floral and somewhat perfumey malty flavor dominates with that crisp light bitter hop flavor I associate with Spaten (could be the yeast as well). Medium-wet finish gives it an edge in drinkability for those who like volume. Not bad for a commercial style beer.

Pale yellow with a tiny white foam. Malty and some hoppy notes. Maltty and sweetness. Medium to light body with a dry finish.

Bottle. Small disappearing head. Light golden lager looks. Fresh flowery, malty nose. A bit sweet, buttery and fresh at the same time. Quite helles like freshness rather than overwhelmingly malty. Some hoppiness in the aftertaste. Pretty good, but not that interesting. Doesn’t hold up to Ayinger or Paulaner.

Bottle (50 cl) from Systembolaget. Clear golden with a medium white head. Generous bready malt aroma with some light hops. Smooth mouthfeel, good balance with some alcohol sweetness and a firm bitterness in the finish.

Smells sour and corny. Foamy pocked head. Orange amber body and tastes of malt sugar and barley. Way to much pilsner malt presant. Weak!

Pours gold and fizzy with a thin white head. Smells of pepper, some sweet malt, but lacking in the caramel hints I’ve come to enjoy in Oktoberfests. Tastes of breaddy malt with some peppery undertones. Mouthfeel is on the thin side. Not as enjoyable as some of the higher praised German O-fests.
