My standard beer in fall, this beauty is one for the ages. caramel color and flavor, and hopped just enough to make one want to jump into a pile of leaves. God bless Spaten. This was ncidental as I was searching for the very difficult to find Knappstein premium lager. anyway, his was refrgerated and after a day of working out the back I cracked this into my Duvel glass. Waiting, waiting....It is fine in the glass and looks like what we hope for. The nose is soft and malty with a hnt of biscuit but with no great assertion in it. It drinks well and is really a simply but well brewed beer without any real oomph factor. Perhaps its just the style as it is certainly true to profile, which means that I am simply not a fan of Oktoberfests. greenmanalishi (299), Leicestershire, England

Pale, clear gold with a small white head. Very fresh in aroma and taste, flavour is of grains/grasses with a nice spicy/tangy kick. Thin and crisp on the tongue. Thumbs up! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Pours a clear and light golden color. Head is big, white and fluffy. It lasts for long and leaves a small lacing.
Aroma is well balanced between a solid malty backbone and lots of mild german hops. There are notes of pineapple, fresh herbs, grass and some cereal grains.
Robust flavor with a bittersweet character. Nice lager freshness, sweet start. It becomes progresively bitter towards the end, but never reaching a totally bitter taste. Aftertaste is great.
Medium body, sticky on the tongue. High carbonation, long hoppy finish. Well rounded.
A great Oktoberfest beer. I would drink this anyday.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Bottle. Very clear and light-yellow colour. Nice white head. Ok balanced beer, with some sweet malt and slightly hoppy bitterness. Light-medium bodied. Fine finish. First Oktoberfestbier I have tasted. Parrothead (187), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA

Almost too cold to detect any aroma, but the maltiness still came through. A beautiful gold/copper with a nice firm white head that stood up to the cold glass. Smooth as silk going down, a great blend of sweet malt with enough hop bite to cut it. The best example of an Oktoberfest I’ve ever had. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Clear orange-gold with a fairly large frothy head. Lots of large and small bubbles fly to the top of the glass helping to prop up the head. Nice cooked grain aroma, that translates well to tasting. Flavour is a good balance of sweet and bitter. Creamy palate, well carbonated, medium body. I enjoyed this beer better the more I drank it. It seemed to balance out a bit. While nothing really stands out , it is a good all round beer. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 18, 2006 Bottle (12oz - green). Clear pale amber-gold with an average-to-small off-white head. Not crazy about that aroma - vegetal toasted grain, unpleasant stale funk aroma (hops? cowbarn?). Taste is ... pretty generic, really, grainy malt, a little harsh, a faint echo of chocolate, and herbal hops - tastes a little stale - green bottle, hmph. Light body, only modestly carbonated, leaves a weird tangy/jangly aftertaste behind after the quick finish. Pretty lame - thanks a bunch, InBev.
