Commercial Description:
This is the German version of the beer, described by Jackson in the 2000 Pocket Beer Book as "much paler (than Oktoberfest-Marzen in the US), golden, albeit still with a creamy aroma and pleasant malt accent."

Looks like a pale lager, smells like a pale lager and sure tastes like a pale lager. And it leaves a real nasty cloying feel in my mouth.

It’s amazing that I love Franziskaner so much, cuz the Doppelbock and this left much to be desired (and this on draft, nonetheless). Somewhat off aroma, some grass, some earthiness. The pour was nice an amber with a nice thick head that thinned out but laced well. The flavor was bready and somewhat spiced and the alcohol was detectable. Some grass in there too (not my cup of tea). Mouthfeel was fairly standard.

Light in color, considering the malt accent of this beer. Clean, firm, smooth, good for a session beer.

(Bottled) Golden colour with a firm white head. Malty nose with citrus, pineapple (yes, rather unexpected), hints of butter and toffee and a slight bitterness. Same aromas in the flavour, with the fruit leaning more towards apricots. Malty finish with more fruity than dry bitterness, rather short. Not as I expected, but still nice.

Bottle. Small white but very quickly disappearing head. Clear golden body. Malt aroma and surprisingly sweet flavor. Hops and berries.
