Kind of standard in brown-red bock color, off-white head, and no lacing. The palate was a little thin for my taste, though hops in swallow gave it a little boost. The flavor followed the nose with more dark fruits, a little bit of roast, and minor bread. Satisfying and drinkable. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2008 12oz bottle, dark amber color with a tan head that dissapates quickly. It’s tastes a bit of carmel, malts, grains, molasses and a hint of oatmeal. This is a first for me in the ’Spaten’ line. For some reason I expected a bit more out of this, but it gives a good try. This brew was the best Spaten beer I have had but it was still middle of the road for me. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink this again. thill25 (218), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 25, 2008 Dark brown color. Big bubbles, a head that disappears quickly. Brussels lace is non existent. Taste is slightly complex but I thought it would be better. Mostly malty and grainy. Nothing special.
