| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Dark, brazen brown body with a white settling head; occupies the Celebrator glass well... excellent tracings of lace... heightened malts.... the sweet aroma is warming and inviting... smooth, medium-bodied with little effervescence around the tongue and below...creamy... the pitch of bready yeasts and malts are empowering, rich and rewarding... the end is warming... in the first of six doppelbocks sampled, the Optimator sets a brisk pace... the malts arrive as expected, balanced as the lion and lamb month they ’re intended for... scoobysnak (249), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Nice crystal clear amber color with a off white head. Smell is dark fruits, prunes, raisins, and a little effervescence to it, a good doughy yeast smell also. Smell is extemely smooth on the mouth. The dough flavor just coats your mouth and leaves a strong aftertaste to it. A bit of a raisiny taste but that bread taste is hard to beat. A damn good bet for a fairly common beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 6, 2008 Pours deep mohagany into the dimpled mug with an inch of frothy white head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, hops and roasted malt. A strong caramel flavor up front with a strange fruity flavor in the finish. Not as good as I would have expected. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Poured brown with a hint of red. This is a malt lovers dream. Carmel and molassas are the primary flavors. Medium bodied beer with quite a bit of lacing left on the glass. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Probably the most common beer I still haven’t rated. Reddish brown, moderate head with pretty good lacing and retention. Aroma is immediately skunked, thanks green bottle! Some caramel, bread more sweet malts. Medium bodied, quite sweet. Pretty standard stuff, would be better in a non green bottle. Ritterkreuz (179), Seneca Falls, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a roasted caramel quality to both the aroma and taste. Its a hearty bear and would seem to be a good brew for a cold night up here in Upstate NY. TheDutchman (18), Louisiana, USA

This stuff should have a weight listed on it because it’s like drinking Quaker State Oil. I love the aroma, malty, as I would expect but the flavor is sweet, malty, and malty. The first drink wasn’t too bad but the more I drank the more foul it tasted. I couldn’t finish it posikyle (165), Alabama, USA
