purchased at red apple in bremerton, washington. pours a dark brown with a red tint, medium head that dissipates quickly. smell is sweet malts, caramel, touch of wheat, roasted nuts. taste is similar to smell, roasted nuts and malts hit first, then a clean wheat taste, followed by a sweetness, leaves the mouth semi-dry.

Pours to a deep reddish hued cola colored body with a lively bread dough looking head. The aroma is extremely bready and smells sort of like the asagio based sourdough bread I have in my fridge. Perhaps a dark nutty cola too. The flavor is dark bread dough, cola, and cloves. Something that I can’t quite put my finger on pervades through this beer’s flavors. Almost like some grape juice or other dark sweet fruit like dates? The palate is sweet, medium bodied, has little texture.

Pours Dark Red-Brown. Tan head that dissipated almost instantly. Aromas of malts, yeast, and molasses. Smooth on the mouth, flavors of molasses with malts and yeast underneath, along with a slight nutty flavor. Finishes dry and lingers.

Draft at the Issaquah Brewhouse. Deep burnished mahogany with rubied and golden-brown highlights. Light rim (grayish), light lace. Caramelly and roasty nose. Clean, light body with density and complexity to it, but certainly not overwhelmingly so--in perfect balance. Rich caramel, nut, and toast on the mid-palate. Clean finish.

Dark ruby red color. Tan thick head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is surprisingly clean for such a dark beer. Hints of malty sweetness with touch of yeast and molasses. Smooth taste. Light sweetness and molasses. Decent mouth-feel. Very drinkable. Not too aggressive. For a beer that is readily available in grocery stores, a good option. I buy it regularly.
