Sep 4, 2007 Poured brown in color with a nice, stubborn, off-white head. The nose was strong with molasses and chewy caramel. The taste was dark, heavy molasses were unrefined and very bitter. The malt flavor was just dripping with it. The rich, caramel compimented it well. The end had a nice round toffee finish with strong warming alcohols. This is a very rich, heavy-duty beer. Not for the timid.

Sep 3, 2007 this is the kind of beer that i know is good but i dont like it. ive tasted other dopplebocks and this one was much better, but i still dont like it so ill try to score it as a dopplebock instead of the beer i drink

Sep 2, 2007 Pours a beautiful rich chocolate brown. Aroma is strong, mainly malty, and tempting. Flavor is rich and malty with hints of toffee and a smoky undertone. There is not the least bit of bitterness. Smooth, very pleasing, this beer is great all by itself, especially after a meal.

Sep 2, 2007 Vanilla and licorice aroma, a little yeasty. Color is very clear, ochre-brown. Medium tan head, Good mouthfeel, but flavor is bad. Horehound and dry dog food. The unpleasant qualities fade during warming. Alcohol is noticeable, but only in the background. Finish is weak but well balanced hop and bark.

Sep 2, 2007 A favorite Bavarian doppel, excellent malty sweetness from the heavy malt but not too much or too much like syrup. Just a hint of hops. Great for a night with a bit of a chill in the air.

Aug 28, 2007 A total surprise. Rich dark in color with a full head that dissipated very fast. For its dark rich look it was very smooth and slightly sweet. I felt this would be a great dessert beer.

Aug 26, 2007 An excellent doppelbock. It looks like a stout when you pour it. The flavor and aroma are of rich malt, chocolate, and some coffee. The head diminishes really fast for some reason. I found this beer quite refreshing for how heavy it was.
