Sweet lightly toasted malt, some carmel notes and a light spiced finish that lingers. Moderate carbonation and a medium to heavy mouth feel. A solid doppelbock. alexanderj (2269), Chino Hills, California, USA

Poured a dark, dirty brown with some amber notes. Aroma of sweet malt, wheat, caramel, and brown sugar. Not bursting with aroma. Flavor was pretty minerally, perhaps too much so initially. But that goes away. Caramel and brown sugar notes are very strong. Some vanilla and brea. buzzoven (333), Japan
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Very nice deep clear dark amber brown colour with a suitably off white creamy head. Smell of molasses, cola, and wheat. Taste is smooth and creamy with some slight caramel, rye, burnt sugar, cherry, vanilla, even some coconut notes. The alcohol is practically invisible amongst the flavour. Overall, a good, drinkable Doppelbock; but one that suffers partially from being kind of unexciting. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Pours rather dark brown with a bit of a matching head. Nose is sweet with hints of dark fruits (plums, raisins, etc.). Flavor is very creamy and smooth with the same dark fruits from the nose. I believe I also detected some floral notes at the end, or at least something similar to what I usually identify as floral. An excellent beer, to be sure.
