Dec 14, 2001 This is the original beer! Check the label - ’Since 1397’(!) Everything else came after. This is a beer that counts. 2 shovels dig your grave twice as fast. Best enjoyed when alternating with Carlsberg Elephants.

Oct 3, 2004 Hands down the best beer I’ve ever had. Nice long lasting flavor that lingers in your mouth long after you have finished the beer. Deep rich dark red color with caramel colored foam, wonderful taste, whichever ingredients were used in this beer it is the best, no wonder Spaten has been making beer since 1397.

Jan 25, 2006 This beer is what I thought beer would taste like when I was a kid. Te color is fantastic, with little to no head. The aroma is very sweet, but subtle. The taste is to die for. It hits tha palette with many flavors, sweet, bitter, and amooth. Very malty, with a great after taste. Tastes good cold or at room temp.

Dec 15, 2006 Any true beer lover can’t help but love this beer ! It has a refreshingly unique flavor that is not for the uniniated ! If you are the kind of beer drinker that is happy with typical commercial beers than SPATEN is not for you, and it goes without saying that the OPTIMATOR will knock you on your a** !( at 7.2% alcohol). I quickly tired of all of those empty bottles accummulating around the house waiting to be returned for the deposit refund so, I went ahead and purchased a dual tap kegerator and stocked it with SPATEN OPTIMATOR and FRANZISKANER (less of an alcohol punch) ! Ah the good life !
