Pours dark brown with almost no head -- I want a big head on a dopplebock so this was disappointing. Flavor is good though, true to style with pleasant mouthfeel. Very smooth, nutty, slightly chocolaty, sweet. Not bad, but there are definitely better dopplebocks. Will re-rate.

Decided against going out of my way to have a Celebrator, sampled this instead, and certainly wasn’t disappointed.
Deep amber body, thick dense beige foam that hangs around.
Rich aroma; lots of toffeeish malt, chocolate and nuts, undertones of prune and fig with a hint of booziness.
Moderate carbonation, thick texture with a somewhat chewy texture.
Delicious chocolate and caramel maltiness that holds complex undertones of dried fig and plum, raisin, sherry and subtle alcohol perfume. Beautiful lingering finish, low bitterness.
Fantastic dark strong lager! curly (598), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Flavor is caramel, molasses, and some dark fruit. Medium bodied. Slightly warming finish. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Dark brownish red pour with a beige head that doesn’t last as long as you’d like. Nose of sweet caramel, bakery, cookie dough, and malt. Thick syrupy mouth feel. Roasted grains with a bit of hops on the palate. More hops than most bocks. Some nuttyness, but could use some more, much more. Aftertaste is more bitter than most bocks. 22415brewery (65), redmond, Washington, USA

Full and somewhat creamy mouthfeel, nourishing and quite filling. Finishes clean with no off flavors. 6ROW (258), corpus christi, Texas, USA
