elihapa (305), Connecticut, USA Jun 21, 2008 2/19/08 notes: bottle from six pack. Aroma is of faint malts and brown sugar. Pours a solid brown color, not too thick. Initial flavor is mellow with faint hops and grass, but quickly develops into firm alcohol and sweet brown sugar base. Goes down dry and easy, one of the best dark session beers I’ve tried. This is my first doppelbock, and it was interesting. I recommend this beer.
apshah99 (91), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 5, 2008 Dark brown pour with frothy white head. Sweet malty aroma; sweet taste with roasted caramel malt, nice balanced bitter finish. Beerman6686 (780), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 27, 2008 Poured a dark amber/brown color with a small off white head. Aroma was very malty, some dark fruits in there and a bit grassy. Flavor was very malty, much like most german dopplebocks, nice caramel roastedness . danielcurtis81 (97), San Diego, California, USA Sep 19, 2008 Getting my old notebook online. Bottle. Dark redish tint, creamy looking head. Smell: Hint of sweetness, fruitiness. Taste: Fruity bitters, bitters go away a little leading to a bit of chocolaty tones about halfway through. Strong good beer! pacaus (42), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2008 For a high alcohol beer it sure has a great taste. This beer is packed with tons of flavour with a sweet taste and smell of raisins. tedovertu (124), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Sep 16, 2008 Not as good as Celebrator but not bad by any means. Dark brown color with quickly diminishing head. Extremely well balanced. This is an extremely dangerous beer at 7.2%. Very enjoyable with it’s malty and balanced flavor.
