| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 11, 2006 The last time (which was the first time) I had this it was at the end of a night of excess and it tasted like it was full of adjuncts. Maybe it was a dodgy skunked bottled, being green glass afterall. This time around it proves to be a more delicate beer, with none of that adjuncty alcohol aroma. Some nice butter toffee aromas with a depth that belies the (only) 6.5%. Well balanced flavour, slightly on the sweet side but quite well integrated into the beer if that makes any sense. Medium-full bodied, with a good carbonation that allows it to be drunk faster than average for a beer of this strength. Quite a decent bock - I am glad I ignore that first experience and tried it again. Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Draught @ Papago. Had a boiling malt aroma you can find driving past a brewery. Gold body with decent white head. Malt was the dominant flavor with a sweet bitter noticable. Drinkable but for me a common brew. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

Golden color with a small, but foamy white head. Moderate carbonation. Aroma is butter toffee malt. Flavor is mostly malt and butterscotch. It is semi-sweet with a little bit of alcohol. Just a touch of clean German hops in the finish to balance the malt. Average body. A solid German Bock, but a little too buttery for me. I’m glad I got to try this one on draught, but I wish they hadn’t been out of the Spaten Optimator! HistoryGeek (17), California, USA

If German beer is your thing, you will enjoy this little gem. Drink up. omhper (12247), Stockholm, Sweden

Dominated by raisiny buttery malt. Firm with restrained sweetness and solid malty body. Grassy hops add some late bitterness. Styliosh. Yeahitsnolan (51), Bakersfield, California, USA
