The aroma was nice and crisp. Taste was very good for such a light beer, again very crisp and evident of hops. Nice light beer, enjoyed it while it lasted! dkoonce (889), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Light color with a good head. Very heavy malt. The heavy body is not expected, given the light clear color. jb (1056), Rochester, New York, USA

I’ve seen that in other reviews and agree. Yellowish with some white head. Standard hop/malt, Rerate - malty aroma, and malty hoppy body, nice dark golden color and big head (draft). Bumped up a tiny bit. GeneralGao (3067), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jun 15, 2006 Draught at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh, NC. Clear golden color with thin white head that dissipated quickly. No lace. Light fruity aroma with a touch of skunky hops and grainy malt. Flavor is similar; fruity and grainy with a touch of alcohol at the end. Eh. eaglefan538 (2397), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Poured with a good head and had a hoppy bite to the finish of this malty base. Very good malty and hoppy balance, although the flavor wasn’t that special. Most certainly didn’t taste like a bock beer. pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA

Malty aroma with sweet flavors of licorice and soap. No real hop presence, but a classic refreshing bock. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 23, 2006 This was the 6th or 7th beer of a long night’s tasting so its subtleties may have escaped me. It tasted like a pilsener blended with malt liquor to me. It looked fine, once we’d got over the surprise of ordering a bock and receiving a pale gold beer that poured with a decent head. The aroma had some sweetish pale malt but were it not for the Reinheitsgebot, I’d swear I was sniffing adjuncts. Not possible, so I’m obviously wrong. The palate was slick, like a Blonde and moderately carbonated. On the tongue, all I could think of was Carlsberg Special Brew. This is more sophisticated than that but it’s not a million miles removed. Bready malts and fruity esters. For a German bock, this tasted like a cheap beer. I don’t get it. (Bottle; Bavarian Bier Cafe, Sydney)
