Bitzybrew (28), New York, New York, USA Oct 28, 2009 A pretty good west coast IPA. Not my favorite, but one that I could session. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Oct 28, 2009 On tap, LA Beerfest. Ah, the joys of fresh hoppy beer! In the case of speakeasy, it made a big difference trying this one on tap instead of at a crusty liquor store. Color and flavor were “bright”: clear gold with a big juicy citrus-orange hop aroma. Flavors round out just enough in the middle with caramelized apple notes to keep things in balance. Mildly bitter finish. Good job, speakeasy. robertjm (399), El Cerrito, California, USA Oct 26, 2009 Huge fresh hop aroma when first uncorking the bottle. Creamy/foamy while head with large bubbles. Orange colored body. Fresh hop flavor too. Not overly huge in flavor, but definately there. Slightly thinner than normal body, which is actually pleasant as hops don’t linger around in mouthfeel and palette like some beers have. Will buy it again. mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland Oct 25, 2009 (Draught) Poured golden and hazy. Head was medium sized and white. Citricness, fruitiness and hops in aroma. Dry palate was medium bodied and with medium carbonation. Taste included hops, fruitiness, malts, grain, grass and bitterness. Bitter and grassy aftertaste finished the flavour nicely. Theis (3617), Denmark Oct 19, 2009 Bottle at Qbrick, Osaka. Clear golden - white head. Toasted, citric, grassy, light dryness, crispy, fruity, light resin, classic american IPA - juct a bit plain. Gethinbeer (993), Nova Scotia, Canada Oct 17, 2009 From bottle, Thanks to JoeMcphee. Rich aroma of fruit, jelly beans and wine gums. Hint of hops. Cloudy/hazy golden colour. Thin white head. Great hop flavour with a nice bitterness. Still rather sweet which makes a smooth texture. Very good IPA. zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Oct 15, 2009 @Freaktoberfest, pours yellow to orange with a creamy medium head, aroma of lemon, grapefruit and peach, flavors of malt, grain and grapefruits with a minty bitter aftertaste, medium bodied, nice. beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Oct 14, 2009 This rating is for the wet hop version. On tap courtesy of bellportbeer. Pours a crystal clear light gold with a thin-moderate yellow-white head that quickly faded and left light lace. The aroma is filled with lots of fruity grapefruit. The flavor is malt up front followed by a very solid dose of bitter hops grapefruit along with some pine. Although bitter, there is enough fruit flavor to keep the bitterness from being excessive. Nice crisp, dry, bitter finish. Enjoyable.
