On tap at Cambridge Common, Cambridge MA, October 2009. Murky straw colour. Big hops throughout. Lots of grapefruit and orange zest. Some pine. Fairly dry with a lingering, but not overpowering, bitterness. Tasty stuff.

Bottle pours bright golden with a white head and a big citrus hop aroma. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, and citrus hops, with a nice bitter finish.

12oz bottle from Cloverleaf in Royal Oak. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aroma is hops, sweet malt, citrus and some peaches. Flavor is sweet malt, orange citrus, caramel and some mild hops. A little light on the hops for a west coast IPA. Drinkable but nothing great.

A pretty good west coast IPA. Not my favorite, but one that I could session.

On tap, LA Beerfest. Ah, the joys of fresh hoppy beer! In the case of speakeasy, it made a big difference trying this one on tap instead of at a crusty liquor store. Color and flavor were “bright”: clear gold with a big juicy citrus-orange hop aroma. Flavors round out just enough in the middle with caramelized apple notes to keep things in balance. Mildly bitter finish. Good job, speakeasy.

Huge fresh hop aroma when first uncorking the bottle. Creamy/foamy while head with large bubbles. Orange colored body. Fresh hop flavor too. Not overly huge in flavor, but definately there. Slightly thinner than normal body, which is actually pleasant as hops don’t linger around in mouthfeel and palette like some beers have. Will buy it again.

(Draught) Poured golden and hazy. Head was medium sized and white. Citricness, fruitiness and hops in aroma. Dry palate was medium bodied and with medium carbonation. Taste included hops, fruitiness, malts, grain, grass and bitterness. Bitter and grassy aftertaste finished the flavour nicely.
