The peat detected in the scent does not bode well for me, but I am going to give this a try anyway. Flavor is piney, bitter, woody, some citrus. On the drier, bitter side. StFun (534), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 31, 2008 I actually liked this one a lot. Picked it up on my roadtrip for beer to Cincy, OH. A pretty in-your-face IPA. Lots of pine hops in this one, the citrus takes a backseat. Color is solid orange. Metallic notes in the aroma and in the flavor. A little bit like Founder’s Centennial or Barley Island Barfly. Nice and crisp, with a lot of good hops flavor and a bit of malt. Finishes pretty nice, with no real sticky aftertaste. A good find. illidurit (896), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Gold color with a modest white head that leaves some intermittent lacing. Pungent leafy hops in the aroma, mostly pine with some citrus. Not much malt backing it up. Oddly enough, there isn’t all that much hoppiness in the flavor. There’s bitterness but no taste to the hops. Just tastes like bitter pale malt. Carbonation is pretty appropriate, finish is semi-dry. verymerrymonk (257), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Poured from a bottle a cloudy golden body with a healthy white head. Nice grassy hops up front with a bit of a watery finish. Starts really nice but ends thin. Still very refreshing. chronictonic (404), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA

Ok, at first I really dissed this beer. I’m surprised I hadn’t rated it already. But, over the last year, it’s come to grow on me a bit. This is a golden pale IPA - not like your big bodied, copper red IPAs from other CA breweries. It’s got a sharp, crisp hop bite, decent, clean fresh aroma (at least on tap), and is overall a nice, refreshing IPA. It certainly doesn’t lack in hop flavor. An excellent summer IPA. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Pours a nice copper color with a fizzy white head. Nice hoppy aroma with citrus peel and pine. Good flavor too. Slightly bitter and super hoppy. A good IPA. McCracken (14), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 21, 2008 This is my standard beer when I go to the Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. Pours with a thin white head cover with a tight collar. Light copper color and very clear. The aroma is remniscent of pine needles, grapefruit and lemongrass. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation and a light alcohol warming (though not as big as their Double Daddy). Flavor is filled out with a nice carmel, toasty component, but still decidedly bitter and hop-centric. Overall, this is a great IPA to get while in SF. epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
