Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA

Bottle (12oz). Poured bubbly pale gold with a small fizzy white head. Mild aroma of mild oily hops, vague somewhat roasty-sweet malt, off-dry Riesling, loam - pretty mild for an IPA. Taste is pretty disappointing - hint of grainy hops, sort of sweet; thin body, mouthfeel like diluted Perrier water. Pretty sad effort, considering how much I liked their other brews.

The Lure:
A slightly soapy, resinous hop perfume morphs into citrus and earth. This is an obvious all-hop affair, and maybe a fun one at that.

The Festivities:
A dry, wooden bitterness takes over the flavor spectrum. The watery malt structure cannot do much, and the oranges and various citrus fruit participate shyly. A most ordinary concoction.

Transcendence:
A lack of manners won’t get you far.

Pale golden colored covered by a light white head. Basically no malt participates in neither the aroma nor taste, thus creating a very simplistic hop centered hoppy ale with citric, floral, wet grapefruit aromas that turn more vegetal though still floral in mouth, with a teeth sticking dryness. Very light bodied, unattractive gazy carbonation comes and enhance an underground beany aspect. Yawn.

This was a fluffy pour with a sticky lasting egg-white head. The body beneath was sunshine yellow and a tad thin for my taste. Aroma a light citrus. Flavor a thin veneer of shallow maltiness with an indistinct finishing bitterness. The hops used were not immediately apparent, and the flavor and ending note did not mesh particularly well. An astringent note.

Poured an effervescent golden with a large fizzy white head. Clean citrusy hop aroma.... preparing me for a nice hop experience. And it’s official, we have a let down. Some hop flavor but overall very bland, with some toffee and a dry bitter flavor. No distinguishable ctirus or pine. Very weak flavor for an IPA. Hops? Hops, where are you?

This was a lively beer. Great tasting with great aount of hops. So happy to have a good IPA available where we live.

Pours copper with decent white head, fades fast. Great citrus/floral hop aroma. All downhill from there. Flavor seems a little off, decent malt character but something is just sour, I quess. whatever it is it’s not enjoyable.

Bottle. Aroma is very hoppy,with slightly sweet tones to it and a bit of malt and yeast. Not sure of the color it pours because drank it straight from the bottle. Carbonation is well-done, as it keeps throughout the whole bottle without being over-carbonated. Not as strongly-hopped as the other IPA’s that I have had, but a fairly well-balanced beer that is excellent for those who want a beer with a good measure of flavor, but don’t want t drink a beer that tastes like liquid hops. After the initial punch of hops, it fades a bit, with a slightly swet/sour note that is it’s only fault. Good brew.
