I believe this one is underrated because it seems like a solid IIP with a strong hint of mustard seed and floral tones in a well balanced bitter mix. The alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel has a creamy finish. It is a bit on the grassy side in the end but I like the garden feel.

Nose of perfume, citrus, spice & pine resin. Pours a sparkling amber honey with melon highlights. The moderate white frothy/creamy head leaves good lace. The brew has a huge burning bitter presence, and a very high acidity. The long bitter finish is massive and has a hint of toastyness. The abv is perfectly incognito. The full body is very lively and uber dry. Thanks once again to my baby "A-Lo" for the hookup.

Much too flowery. I enjoy a flowerness to my IPAs but this thing was over the top. More malt might have helped but this was harsh.

Bottle. Pours Amber color with off white head. The aroma is very sweet. The taste starts sweet with lots of caramel but as you drink the hops really start to come out. This seemed to get better as the glass emptied. Really nice

From 12 oz bottle, the beer pours with golbden orange color. Very nice taste ... starts off sweet but finishes dry with a nice hop bitterness.

Shiney bright amber with a 2 finger head. Nice piney hop smell with a whiff of alcohol. Nice taste of sweet caral and grainy malts up front with a mild hop alcohol bite to finish. Taste more like a pale ale than a big ipa. 21706

Perhaps my expectations were a bit high for this beer. Speakeasy is a superb brewer and I love their IPA, but this one is slightly disappointing. It is indeed a great beer, but not as good as I would have hoped. Piney smell with a disappearing head, hazy and opaque, tastes of sweet malts and chewy hops. From Bottle

2/3/08 From the bottle. Aroma is sweet, but very grassy, almost spicy. The harshness subsides after a few minutes and a light caramel emerges to balance; it’s not perfect, but typical for style. Appearance is a very faintly hazy gold with a well maintained off-white head with good lacing. Flavor has a good bit of everything, from grass to earth to residual sugars to a good peppery bite, all in good balance with each other. Like the aroma, give this taste a few minutes to even out and open up, you’ll be well rewarded with a lessening harshness and increased harmony that goes from totally clashing to fairly pairable should you try this with food. Mouthfeel has a lot of texture, one of the few beers where you can feel the hop spiciness on your tongue, and the texture stays very even through the finish, which stays with you but doesn’t kill the palate. Overall, a very drinkable Imperial IPA that doesn’t rely solely on high IBUs and the taste of dirt in you mouth to make its point.
