Leafy green spices and alcohol nip on the edges. Flavor projects a massive citrus and pine oil shout, with brutish fusel alcohol fully suffusing it. Middle of burnt toffee. Thoroughly predictable, although the brightness of the orange and pineapple sweetness manages to shine with an almost convincing strength. Finishes with a pungent peat-like barrel note, and a coating of bitter rind. This bitterness is crisp and lovely, and the alcohol resigns itself progressively with warmth. Firm in the mouth, with an unsettling medicinal posture. Fairly well-made, though a somewhat rambling and disoriented example. mkofron (155), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 17, 2007 Carmel malts, very hoppy, not much alchohol taste (which is good since it’s at 9.5) Mine had little flakes of sediment floating, which ruined the appearance. Other than that, a very fine IPA. Piney AND Citrusey! Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2007 Pours a cloudy, amber color with a white head. Aroma is of huge citrus and pine hops, caramel, and sweet malts. Aroma seems quite balanced. Flavor is huge citrus and pine hop right away with a decent background of sweet malts and caramel. Has a bitter finish with some slight alcohol warming. Overall pretty good and very well balanced. Oakes (8166), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Hazy amber. Big piney, orangey hop aroma with depth of caramelly malts. The flavour shows a remarkable sense of balance - rich bitterness with just a hint of resininess, chewy malt that stays just this side of cloying, and enough bright hop notes (orange, lemon, canteloupe) to add punch. brianjames1 (322), Northridge, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Surprised at the lack of aroma for a double IPA. Taste is very unbalanced, malts overwhelm any hops and the alcohol is not masked very well. Not a big fan of this double IPA, needs some work. jarspag (600), Los Angeles, California, USA

crystal clear amber, fine white head, lots of pretty lace, sweet piney aroma with a citrus touch, thin body, lots of bitter hop flavor on a slightly thin malt base, enough sweetness to balance without being sweet, sweetness eventually comes out, lots of hops to the end
