In the bottle from Whole Foods SF 4th St location in SF. Orange/amber yellow in color with a medium white head. Mild butterscotch aroma with a strong blast of citrus-like hops. The flavor is sweet. Thick palate has orange candy without the intense chocolate that oftentimes follows. Poor lacing. Somewhat disappointing in that it fails to have a unique or interesting zinger in the flavor department.

4/20/2007: Speakeasy Double Daddy Imperial IPA pours an opaque golden-copper color. It has a very large puffy, whipped, and foamy ivory head that leave pretty good lacing. The beer is well carbonated which causes the head to be long-lasting. Fresh wet hops offer a nice bouquet of pineapple, orange, citrus, and grass. Overall the aroma is quite juicy and definitely inviting. The flavor progresses quickly from sweet toffee mail to a grapefruit and citrus zest flavored bitterness. There is some additional bitterness, alcohol and bite when warmer. The body is medium to medium-full with a sticky mouthfeel. This beer is pretty bitter, but not overly so. Likewise, this beer is strong, but the alcohol (9.5% ABV) doesn’t jump out. Overall that means that Double Daddy is a well-balance and well-blended Imperial IPA. 12 oz bottle from Tmoney99. Thanks again Tom!

Nicely balanced aroma that features plenty of citrusy hops, but gives equal time to a hearty caramel/toffee accented malt component. The malt comes out dominate, but not by a lot. The body is a brown tinted orange and holds a firm white head that is mostly lasting. Stick, candied fore is big with toffee, caramel and even a hint of butterscotch cake/bread. Lightly carnbonated with a styrup sweet finish.

Double Daddy came off a bit disjointed to me. Malt, citrus and alcohol aroma poured a quick head and orange body. The 9.5% ABV is evident in every sip. Double Daddy is a deliquent.....or maybe just hopped up malt liquor.

Orangey copper, with a nice foamy white head. Very citrusy, floral hopppy aroma. Flavor is very grapefruity and, uh, soap. But in a atrangely appealing way. Hop bitterness dominates, with the malt more of a back ground player. Pretty enjoyable.

bottle via Naven. Amber color. Smell of hops, rye, caramel, flowers, little citrus, malt and musty wet dog. Taste the same but sweeter and no dog. Only thing I liked was the bitterness at the very end. Tons of malt in this one.

Worthy whitish head with an auburn-golden -tawny body. Bubble gum flowery nose that didn’t translate as well to the flavor, but was still killer! Very delectable DIPA. Speakeasy never lets me down! Great brew!
