Aroma has lots of sweet, resiny citrusy hops, hint of apricot and orange blossom honey. Flavor has some subtle maltiness, bit of herbal hops, some toasted malts, touch of honey. Finish is relatively balanced but with a firm bitterness. Shows aromas and flavors of citus(grapefruit) and pine as well as some malt on the mid palate. A nicely balance IPA for being 9.5% ABV. Would love to try on tap. bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 7, 2007 This is my first sampling from this brand. Their IPA hits the mark. A real heavy aroma and the beer delivers - start to finish. The alcohol content is apparent and not well hid. But it’s a real nice american IPA bhensonb (4371), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2007 Strong aroma of piney hops backed by malt. Hazy apricot color with minimal whitish head. Starts with a bit of malt which is quickly superceded by piny hop. Mouthfeel is thinnish, getting thin after a bit. Finish seems balanced. The hop persists, but there is malt as well. Not so carried away to the hop extreme as so many of they type. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2007 (Bottle) Courtesy of a trade with Blankboy. Pours a near headless, cloudy orange body. Filled with sediment. Nose is very sweet with a bitter hoppy overtone. Reminiscent of Old Crustacean with the double maltedness and piney hops. Very strong, 9.5% ABV, and balanced considering the Double IPA label. Good to the last drop. radagast83 (1315), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 4, 2007 Bottle at Brickskeller. Clear, copper color with a white head. Very citrus, grapefruity aroma, with a very similar flavor to the aroma. I had no idea that the alc. content was that high. And as always I love the description of the beer with its gambling/prohibition underground references. asteele8 (270), Mukilteo, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with an off-white head on top. Aroma is full of sweet citrus fruits, grapefruit, hops, and grass. Flavor is packed in pretty nicely with hops, grapefruit and citrus. Caramel malts come in also making the beer have a sweetness factor but not syrupy. The beer is fairly crisp and has somewhat of an alcohol taste towards the end. A bitterness finishes the beer off. Not much of a hop bomb as many IIPAs are expected to be nevertheless it is a fairly decent balanced beer.
