Flavor is tight, cold, steely hops with the barest of spinal malt. Although this was a hopfest, it was not overbearing. Enjoyed the grapefruit and resin flavors. Nice 2IPA, not my favorite and certainly not the worst. willblake (2179), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

This beer was not very good and, damn it, I’ve had a run of some bad stuff lately. This beer is pale, watery, thin, and metallic with an overt astringency where there should be bitterness and corn and fruit flavors wehre it should be strongly malty and brightly floral. Somewhat metallic where resinous (or even mineral) would do. For some reason, I always think very highly of the Speakeasy beers, but, looking back, it seems I always find them to be mediocre. This one is no exception. eaglefan538 (2369), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Poured a pale copper to amber color with an ok initial head. A few rings of lacing, but only sporadically, leaving want for more. A couple chunks at the bottom of the pour. The aroma was of grapefruits, melons, light pine/resinous. Flavor was grapefruits, caramel malty, and some sloppy pine/resinous flavors with even a touch of sloppy floral notes. Not the cleanest of dIPAs. Mouthfeel wasn’t sticky at all, a little dry for a dIPA. Certainly bitter. Mediocre overall. MullMan (1083), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2006 on tap at the Toronado. creamy off-white head, light and clear copper/amber color. aroma is milder hop than I expected, flavor is a bit malty sweet then spicy hop. bitter finish and aftertaste. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2006 This is exactly what a IIPA should taste like. Agressive hop flavor with a nice balance between bitter and sweet. Maybe a little less agressive than some IIPAs, but this one comes off well balanced wiith hop presence you cant miss. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2006 Cool looking bottle with the eyes on the neck. Pours amber/orange with a medium white head. Starts off promising with a nice mix of citrus aroma with some sweet caramel as well. Aroma is not overpowering. Taste is more of the same, the malt is a little more noticable as it warms and the bittneress fades quickly. The finish is fruity and malty. A little acidic and you can sense the 9.5%. This is good, but I was hoping for more bitterness. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Bottle. Rich amber beer with a thin off-white head. Grapefruit and pine aroma, but not that strong. Resiny pine and grapefruit flavor with some caramel. Bitterness fades a bit too quickly. Alcohol slightly noticeable. Very drinkable for its abv. dwyerpg (2537), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2006 Oh, this is nice. They brough in a mini-keg to our little tasting. Awesome! Nothing but hops throughout this baby. I could drink this all the time.
Notice the low overall given the other scores. Well, I had a headache the next morning from this guy and I almost never do from beer. So be careful.
