Thin body and average hop character for a DIPA. Maybe this beer suffers from being tasted directly after the Marin White Knuckle... just not bold enough for a DIPA in my opinion, but still a good brew. jcwattsrugger (5525), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 5, 2006 Bottle via Odeed. The beer pours to a transluscent gold body with visible carbonation and a very thick frothy/rocky/creamy white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is piney and grapefruity. Hoppy. The flavor is piney, bitter spruce, and caramel malts. Lingering bitter hoppiness. Tastes like sap/resin, but the palate is clean from the oily resins I would expect. Too piney/sprucey. Bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes clean. 9.5% is not detectable. Unfortunately pretty basic for a double IPA. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA

Dark honey brown, good creamy head. Bready-malty, hoppy aroma. Bready malty and very hoppy flavor, of course, but not hoppy to extreme. This hides its ABV quite well. Quite balanced and even enjoyable double IPA. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Whoa, this was kind of disappointing. Very little aroma and lots of alcohol in the flavor. Some citrus hops but more than necessary alcohol. their regular IPA is better. pass on this. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2006 Bottle thanks to tever: Clear copper color with a small white head. Aroma had some pale/carmel malts, floral and citrus hop notes. I thought I noticed a little oxidation though. Not sure how old the bottle was. Flavor, quite sweet for an IIPA, some subdued hops, a little lingering bitterness, but nothing special.
