Pours a hazy orange with a small white head. aroma was a bit skunky ,earthy. taste was very malty. I didn’t pick up any floral or citrus . maybe this one was old. If this is not old then its not a good example of a west coast dipa or any i have had. nickd717 (1389), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2009 On tap at Speakeasy. Pretty standard IIPA. Dark golden-amber in color with a white head. Aroma of Cascade hops and caramel malt. Flavor is lots of very sweet caramel malt with lots of C-hops. Hop combo is good but not great. Alcohol makes itself known. Oily palate. sebletitje (1995), Tampa, Florida, USA

pours hazy orange with white head.
Aroma is malty, caramel with hops nose and honey sweetness.
Taste, thick mouthfeel good malty/hoppy balance, some spices. Alcohol is well present on the palate and in after taste, some fruity pineapple. Caramel malts. Not overly bitter. BroSpud (612), , Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 13, 2009 12oz bottle. This is another example of a beer going down so easy that I did not have time to pay close attention to the details. That said, here is what I think I remember: Poured a hazy amber whith a slight head. Not as tasty as some of the other Imperial IPAs I’ve had lately though not bad. One thing of significance is the lack of alcohol taste despite the 9.5% listed on the label. These things could be dangerous if drunk in quantity. Like I said, they go down very easy. beerbuzzmontreal (2921), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 25, 2009 The pour reveals a clear golden color with a thin white head. Pleasant aroma of piney, peppery hops. Interesting flavor of piney, peppery hops. The body is light with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. It’s ok, but unimpressive for the style. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2009 Bronzed with a 1/3 inch flush white head. Healthy doses of Chinook, well-backed by malt are first to greet the nose. Wonderful intimations of floral and citrus hop bitterness. Citrusy, floral, piny, and bitter on the palate. A straightforward, immensely resinous, bitter IPA, which exacts an immediate 1-2 hop-alcohol punch to the senses. BDR (2168), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Huge thanks to LilBeerDoctor for this bonus. A creamy malt nose with a tinge of citrus hop. A stellar hop flavor with a strong, almost soapy consistency to the hops (resin). A delicious drink! malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2009 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Hazy golden orange with lasting ring a little lace. Citrus pine orange aroma. Some sweet honey orange with thorough underlying bitterness and somewhat lingering orangey sweetness. Some off flavors, like fishiness. Surprisingly bitter, somewhat astringent. Medium-full body. Not one of my favorite DIPAs, but okay. The fact that this has a big "91" next to it is a good reason to emphasize style pct over overall pct. There are many, many, many DIPAs that, I think are more enjoyable than this. And I would further propose that something as random as Weltenburger Barock Hell, which has a big "55" next to it is definitely a more enjoyable, and, yes, I’ll say it, better beer than this.
