The_Sponge (161), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Apr 1, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber/orange color, with minimal head. I’m a big fan of Imperial IPA’s, and this one "hits a home run". Very hoppy, with a full-bodied mouthfeel. Hints of citrus and pine.
VitaminR (279), Colorado, USA Sep 30, 2008 Sweet resiny candied hop cone nose. Frothy sea foam head, very hazy pale amber color. Malty sweetness jumps into bitterness quickly, but it is very sophisticated. Full body, solid carbonation, and a slow satisfying alcohol burning finish. This is a huge beer, but it is put together well--and with class. GuilTTy (458), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Sep 20, 2008 Bottle from the original Foodery on 10th Street in Philly. Mildly hazy dark copper pour supporting a short but dense light khaki head. Spicy, piney aroma with plenty of grapefruit. Grapefruit dominates the flavors but plays more of a strong leading role to the caramel, vanilla and dark toast. Texture is reasonably silky but feels watery at times. Nice snappy and dry finish. Goofy mouthfeel aside this is a very good IIPA and worth seeking out. cbeers21 (408), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 19, 2008 hazy copper with nice foam. Piney hops, pineapple, grapefruit and a barnyard-infused peanut butter sandwich aroma, similar flavor. Nice rounded quality to this one gave it some decent balance, i liked it. CharlesDarwin (1406), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 9, 2008 12oz bottle via brigadier. Thanks! Noses in a spicy, near-celery hop aroma. Brassy, green and musky. Interesting, but maybe edging not fresh. Pours a slightly hazed deep golden, with a rim in rocky white. Flavor start similar to nose, but then slides downhill a little. There’s a brash edge of alcohol, a certain tang of bubblegum esters, and lots of residual sweetness. All of this through a citrus and spice hop base that comes across as age. Finishes a touch sweet, but bright. Has some rough edges. doubleo (825), San Diego, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 On-tap at Stone. Pours bright yellow/orange, moderate sized white head, good lace. Smells grassy and resiny, citrusy. Tastes about the same, sweet and resiny grassy, citrusy. Full, syrupy body, good carbonation.
