Tap at Rattle N Hum. There nose a lot of heavy cocoa, just as the original version did. There is just a touch of vineous character along with a lot of rye/bourbon barrel flavour. The body is substantially thinner in this iteration, to the beers detriment. It has a nice toastiness and a bit of licoricey herbal character. A nice slightly vineous character on the back, but I definitely prefer the original.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malty aroma, coffee and vanilla as well. The flavor isn’t too heavy on the bourbon, which is nice. Roasted malt, coffee, and a smooth nutty/vanilla sweetness. It’s a sipper, but it’s a good one.

Awesome malty, vanilla and hazelnut flavors coupled with a smooth bourbon that really brings this sucker together. Fantastic.

Tap at Rattle n Hum: Deep brown with a crimson/ruby hue and a light tan film. Chocolaty aroma with mild nutty notes, some vanilla bean richness/sweetness, but no apparent barrel or oak character. Slick body with a rich flavor. Has notes of sweet chocolate liqueur, mild nutty/dark crystal malt notes and some fruity sweetness as well of raisin and plum wine richness. Light woody notes on the back. A bit sweet but acceptable in small amounts.

Tap at Rattle’n’Hum. Bourbony, hot, coal and chalk aroma. Sweet corn, vodka, buttery oak flavors. Not too much bourbon. Medium bodied. Heavy handed and blunt, pretty rough on the palate. Rather fizzy, too.

On cask at ’09 PP real ale festival. Listed at Hunter’s Point w/Oak chips, but I didn’t feel like creating a new entry for one rating to distinguish oak chips from oak barrel, especially when they probably are the same this, just mislabed here. Black, tan frothy head. Nice oaky aroma. Dryish, easy to drink. Nice.

On tap at RFD in Washington D.C. Pours a viscous, opaque black with a thin, white head. Medium strength aroma of booze, chocolate, coffee, nuts, vanilla. Flavor was well balanced as well, nuts, milk chocolate, bourbon whiskey, coffee, malts. Finish is oily. Pretty good.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is heavily bourbon, vanilla and some chocolate. Smooth flavor with tons of bourbon as well. as some chocolate and coffee. A bit thin on the palate.
