On tap at the PDX Green Dragon. Pours dark brown with a smooth light beige head. Smooth body with a coffee finish. Dark bakers chocolate and coffee give a nice character to this beer. Felt a bit high in the carbonation realm leaving it too dry and breaking up the palate to much, but the malt profile was nice.

Darker colored. Aroma is the usual chocolate, caramel, coffee deal. Medium bodied, quite drinkable. Went really nicely with a burger though.

On tap @ Toronado SF. Black pour, thin khaki head. Moderately sweet aroma, slight roast. Real chocolately taste - molasses and a hint of nuttiness, dry finish. Decent palate. A nice drinkable porter.

[Draft @ Freakin Frog] Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, nuts, and charred wood. Taste of chestnuts, roast, chocolate, and light smoke in the finish.

On tap at Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, OR--Poured dark black, slightly brown with a small tan head. Grainy, chewy, malty, silky with a hint of wood and toffee. Spicy, earthy hops in the finish. Some vanilla notes and a nice, clean overall presence.

Tasted at the 5th Annual (2008) Triple Rock Firkin Fest. This porter poured a dark eclipse black color from the firkin. Small sized tan head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, with a touch of oak. A medium to full bodied porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee, with a touch of vanilla and bourbon and a hint of oak. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Smooth soft carbonation. Touch of the bourbon barrel is evident. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a hint of vanilla.

Poured at the firken fest, labeled porter from bourbon aged oak, dark brown to black with a small tan head. Nose had a bit of oak with roasted grain and coffee. The flavor has a lot of malt up front with caramel, bourbon, coffee and chocolate. The finish is bittersweet with a lot of roasted graininess. Overall the flavors were quite good but a little disjointed. The finish was almost out of place.
