(On tap - Toronado) Completely black and opaque with a beige head leaving a pretty lacework. Soft aroma of roasted malts. Medium body, plenty of roasted malt - only a vaguely burned touch - and some dried fruit. Has an underlying sweetness and a very subdued bitterness. A very well crafted Porter. 250307

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep black beer with a sticky tan head. The nose is lovely. There is a lot of rich chocolate and cooca along with a soft chewy maltiness. There is a nice chewiness through the middle with a kiss of plum and molasses along with a chewy toffeeish maltiness. Fairly assertive roastiness as well. Intense and chewy, but not overly sweet. Nicely constructed beer with a touch of roastiness on the back. Absolutely delicious brew. Really impressive.

Draught at Toronado. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, caramel, chocolate), lightly hoppy (flowers, grapefruit, resin), with notes of plum, vanilla, and blackberry. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. A very pleasant rendition.

Tasted at the 5th Annual (2008) Triple Rock Firkin Fest. This porter poured a dark eclipse black color from the firkin. Small sized tan head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, with a touch of oak. A medium to full bodied porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee, with a touch of vanilla and bourbon and a hint of oak. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Smooth soft carbonation. Touch of the bourbon barrel is evident. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a hint of vanilla.

[Draft @ Freakin Frog] Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, nuts, and charred wood. Taste of chestnuts, roast, chocolate, and light smoke in the finish.

Draft. Blackish beer with a thin beige head. Malty aroma with some roast and chocolate. Roasty, big chocolate flavor. Smooth and velvety mouthfeel with a slightly fuller body. Lingering chocolate. Nice.
