| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2007 Light brown with a small head and minimal lacing. Thickly hopped aroma, somewhat aggressive hop flavoring on the frontside. Not tremendously complex for a barleywine, really smooth though for 10%. Naven (881), Poway, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2007 This beer pours an amazingly nice looking amber color. Seriously, one of the nicest looking ales I have seen. Aroma is hoppy, with some trippy caramel and brown sugar undertones. Flavor is niiiice up front, but I got a gnarly medicinal taste at the end. A little harsh. This one should grow on me, just like Double Daddy has. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Bottle from Beer on the Wall. Pours deep copper with minimal off-white head. Aroma of figgy fruit, cognac, caramel malt, honey, brown sugar, port wine. Tastes heavy caramel malty, with some figgy fruit, brown sugar, cognac, and cabernet notes. Well hidden alcohol. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2007 12 oz. bottle courtesy asteele8. Clear deep coppery amber with a small off white head that collapses quickly. Burnt caramel and brown sugar quickly followed by dark fruit and citrus. However, the alcohol is quite noticeable from the start. Smooth medium baody with light carbonation and fairly clean on the palate. Mlat based sweetness is complemented by a spicy bitterness, leaving the finish dry, but with some lingering sweetness detectable. Not bad, but lacks the complexity of a truly memorable barley wine. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Bottle 2006. Brilliant amber color with a big, frothy ivory head. Somewhat sweet, fruity aroma with some sugar notes. Very bitter and somewhat thin . Drinkable but falls short of what I’d call a great Barley Wine. brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Def not the best Barley Wine or the best from Speakeasy - which is typically a great brewer. This one is just a bit "off." Does not quite have the complexity or balance of most BW’s.
